Google has published a new update saying it will change its financial product policy starting June this year that will see advertisements related to cryptocurrency totally banned.

In a blog post, it says they will restrict the advertisement of Contracts for Difference, rolling spot forex, and financial spread betting. In addition, ads for the following will no longer be allowed to serve:

  • Binary options and synonymous products
  • Cryptocurrencies and related content (including but not limited to initial coin offerings, cryptocurrency exchanges, cryptocurrency wallets, and cryptocurrency trading advice)

Ads for aggregators and affiliates for the following will no longer be allowed to serve:

  • Contracts for Difference
  • Rolling spot forex
  • Financial spread betting
  • Binary options and synonymous products
  • Cryptocurrencies and related content.

Google however, has not explained in details the reasons for the said ban but it’s a timely move when regulators in the U.S. has repeatedly scrutinized ICOs and other Cryptocurrency projects.

This move comes just a month after Facebook released a statement of the same.
